Rogue Studio Figure Drawing Sessions

All skill levels welcome.  All media welcome.

6 sessions, Tuesdays, September 13 – October 18, 12– 3 pm

Three hours of moderated, uninstructed figure drawing sessions with a live model in the Rogue Studio.  Adults 18 years and older from beginning to advanced levels are welcome.  Moderated by Fred Jenkins, the sessions will include short gestures and longer sustained poses.  Students must provide their own drawing materials. Drawing boards, worktables, and easels are available for use.

Fred Jenkins is a contributing artist at Rogue Gallery & Art Center and serves on the exhibits committee.  He believes figure drawing is one of the most challenging and interesting engagements we can make in our creative pursuits. He looks forward to each session as both a moderator and participant.

Exploring Acrylic Media with Alx Fox

All skill levels welcome. Acrylic

2 sessions, Friday, October 14 & Saturday, October 15, 10 am – 3 pm

Come and explore acrylic painting while enjoying the comradery and inspiration of fellow artists. Alx will work one on one with you as you journey through a variety of acrylic media and techniques. Whether you paint abstract or representational art, work on canvas or on watercolor paper, learning about different mediums will enrich your work.

Acrylic Media Registration

Alx Fox is an abstract impressionistic mixed media artist.  She studied photography, art history, and design at Barat College in Lake Forest, Illinois.  Her career entails working in pastel and acrylics.  Her work is in private collections worldwide and is showcased in many national shows.

Beyond the Brush – Experimental Techniques in Watercolor with Lynda Hoffman-Snodgrass

All skill levels welcome. Watercolor

2 Sessions, Friday November 4 & Saturday November 5, 10 am–5 pm

This workshop is designed for exploring, experimenting, and incorporating textural watercolor techniques into your own personal artistic style. Each day will start with a lecture and demonstration about watercolors and texture. We will explore experimental watercolor techniques using items other than a paintbrush for texture, including pouring paint through filters.

Beyond the Brush Registration

Lynda Hoffman-Snodgrass is a third generation artist. She primarily works in watercolor as a colorist with a strong emphasis on design.  She is a past president of the Watercolor Society of Oregon and holds signature memberships with this organization as well as the Northwest Watercolor Society.  Additionally, she judges art exhibitions, presents lectures and art demonstrations, teaches classes, and gives critiques for art organizations and individuals. Her award winning paintings hang in private collections worldwide.

Introduction to Oils with Kristen O’Neill

Beginner Level. Oil

Saturday, November 19, 11:30 am – 2:30 pm

Gain an understanding of the materials used in oil painting in this introductory class. Explore working in oils—while painting a still life. Special attention will be given to wet-on-wet technique.

Kristen O’Neill graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2003. While in Chicago she realized how important nature is to her artwork. After moving to Oregon in 2015, Kristen discovered she loved teaching as much as she loves painting. She has taught classes to youth and adults at Grants Pass Museum of Art and Manley Art Center in Brookings, OR. She displays her art in a variety of venues in Southern Oregon. Kristen believes a down-to-earth, fun class is a great way to learn.

Take Your Photography to the Next Level with Tom Glassman

All skill levels welcome. Photography

Dates and times to be determined by student(s) and instructor

Students will learn about tools, accessories, techniques, and lens selection to enhance their photography and printing.  Students will be guided in how to look and “see creatively” for impressive photographs – even with a cell phone camera. Classes can be taken individually or as a group.  Classes will be customized to what students want to learn and to their time schedule.

TUITION $40 per hour per student

Tom Glassman has extensive experience in photography.  He was creative director of several ad agencies.  Tom’s first love is still black and white photography, as evidenced by many of his images.  His work is in private collections throughout the U.S.  Tom has taught photography and fine art printing for many years.
